Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles, based in San Jose, CA, was founded in the summer of 2007 under the visionary leadership of Ashley Lopez. What began as a small group of family members united by their passion for traditional Mexican dances has grown into a prominent cultural institution. By 2024, Los Laureles has distinguished itself as the only private Folklorico academy in San Jose. Over the past 17 years, they have expanded their offerings to include over 25 classes, welcoming students from as young as 2 years old. Los Laureles has had the honor of performing for organizations across the United States, sharing the rich heritage of Mexican dance with diverse audiences. Each year, Los Laureles proudly produces two formal recitals, showcasing the Bay Area's remarkable talent and deep appreciation for Mexican culture. Their multifaceted program includes academy classes, in-school programs, teacher training, and much more, providing comprehensive opportunities for dancers of all ages and skill levels. Laureles' mission is to conserve and celebrate Mexican traditions through dance, fostering a love for this vibrant culture in every student they teach.
